Add a Development Plan Template

Administrators create templates that can be used by employees and managers as a starting point for Development Plans.

This procedure assumes that:

You belong to a group with access to the Manage Development Plan Template Screen. Access is granted on the Features screen (Core > Development Plans > Development Plans Template > Development Plans Template Management Page.

To create a Development Plan Template:

  1. Click > Global Settings > Your Organization > Development Plan Templates.
  2. On the Manage Development Plan Template Screen, click Add Development Plan Template in the upper right.
  3. Enter a unique name for the Plan Name, select the Plan Type (Gap Fill or Growth), and specify the Job Title, Location, and Group Name to associate with the plan, if desired. Dates, such as start date and target date, are not saved with templates. Users define dates for the entire plan when they create the plan from the template.
  4. Click Save to save the template with just this information. Click Save and Continue to open the New Plan Template Item screen, where you add one particular objective of the development plan, and specify details like skills and competencies the employee should have to meet the objective, and the courses, resources, and mentors that may help the employee.
  5. Continue to click Save and Add Another until you have added all the objectives you want to associate with the plan template.
  6. When finished click Save.
